Sally Beauty Supply, you suck

The buzz on the forums at NaturallyCurly.com is lately around Lustrasilk. It's cheap and it seems to be really working well for people. So, I thought I'd give it a shot.

Three Walgreen's later, I figured I'd just bite the bullet and visit Sally Beauty Supply, whose website indicates they have it. (I refuse to give Sally a link.) I was on the road for my job yesterday and so had the opportunity to visit two cities (both of which had Sallys) to assist in my quest.

Called the one in Concord, where a young and mildly disinterested person told me they carried Lustrasilk but not the olive oil version. I then called the other one and they didn't even answer their phone. As far as I know, yesterday was not a beauty holiday.

So, when I got home, I had time to check out the Sally's here in San Francisco. I phoned. Much to my horror, I got the same Russian-as-a-first-language sales associate I got when I phoned Sally's last year to inquire about Biotera. The conversation inevitably goes like this:

"Hi, do you carry [fill in the blank]?"

"What?"

"[product name]. Do you sell it, please?"

"[repeats product name in a barely recognizable way]. I don't know. I'll check."

Sixty seconds later she returns to the phone. "No, we don't have it."

Now, yes, I could have driven over there to confirm (especially since months after the idiot told me they didn't have Biotera, I saw it in their store), but I am disgusted with Sally Beauty Supply and so despite the shipping costs, I went home and ordered it on Amazon.

(Also about a year ago, I wanted to buy something else there. The website said the store was open until 7:00 so I went directly there after work. When I arrived at 6:40, I was greeted by a locked door and a sign that said their hours were 10:00 to 6:00. I honestly believe this store exists to annoy as many people as possible. I don't think that's good for beauty.)

I'll keep you posted on the Lusatrasilk results. Meanwhile, I spit on you, Sally Beauty Supply!

Sorry about your bad experiences with Sally Beauty Supply. That Lustrasilk is next on my PJ list. I can't keep up with all these products just tempting me all the time.

I ordered my Lustrasilk from amazon and it got here today (only took like 3 business days) so the wait isn't too bad. Although I'm definitely hoping that if it works I'll find some place in town so I can avoid the shipping fees

Wow. I'm so sorry about your experience! About two weeks ago I went in to get Biotera (when I first started cg) and one girl kept plugging their Hair One, saying it does a great job cleaning the hair. I asked how, if it had Amodimethicone, and she said "Oh. That's one of those fatty alcohols I hear about. It's a deep astringent!" :o\ I rest my case. You're going into a beauty store sahara with no water in sight when you enter Sally's.

I've never asked for advice there, but I do feel lucky that there is an associate at my Sally's who at least has a good grip on where the products are and when they'll be coming in if they aren't there. I feel like a Sally's oddity now.

I'm sorry about the experience you had with your Sally's excursion.

I don't know what is wrong with Sally's, they are terrible. Fortunately the one in my town happens to have a decent mgr. with a curly head on her shoulders. She's going to carry Lustrasilk after seeing an improvement in MY hair within a week! She's also going to start using it! Of course, I ordered the Shea Mango one too :) It takes 2wks to get it but beats paying shipping again like I had to the 1st time around.....Honestly it's worth it even with Shipping!!!

Hahaha Sally's is such a bullshit place...

I have had this same experience with Sally's! They never tell you that they have something over the phone and they act like you are stupid for asking. UGH!

This is why I rarely shop there. I had ONE nice young lady who was very helpful, but the rest of them are airheads. Ulta's employees also, just a bit, no?

I *hate* shopping at Sally's! I know exactly the little Russian lady at the Sally's in SF you're talking about. If you think the ones in SF are bad don't ever go to the ones in Oakland. They barely speak or make eye contact with you.

Ah, it feels good to be vindicated. And get this: I wrote to the company to tell them about the thread at NC.com as well as this blog post and I never heard a word. The suckitude continues....
